Working with Produce Grower and analyzing the current State of the Tomato industry has been an eye-opening experience. With both the USDA and this year’s report demonstrating the popularity of tomatoes grown under cover, it is clear tomatoes are an essential piece of produce that growers must perfect.
At Fluence, our key mission is to help the world grow smarter. Our innovative lighting solutions enable some of the largest produce and herb growers to cultivate consistent, high quality and uniformly immaculate crops. We understand that a rapidly increasing portion of the population want to eat and live healthy and that our innovative lighting solutions will enable growers to address this demand.
This year’s report shows that flavor, yield and disease resistance are the most important attributes in a tomato crop. Our engineers work closely with growers to develop high-quality and effective solutions for growing under cover to enhance, research and optimize these attributes. Our scientists are collaborating with leading researchers and organizations such as Wageningen University and Research Center as well as the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research to shine a light on the latest technologies and best practices for growing better crops. Together, we are improving the interaction between light and life to yield a healthier and more sustainable world.
Thank you for reading this year’s report and for growing the food which helps each and every one of our communities thrive. I look forward to seeing you in the field.
