The Worker Protection Standard (WPS) has been updated with revisions to many of the standards. To cover these revisions and to review the standards, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County is sponsoring a WPS Mock Inspection Workshop.
This workshop will be held in two different locations, first on May 10 at Lewin Farms in Calverton, N.Y. and next on May 11 at Woodburne Cultural Nurseries in Melville, N.Y.
As part of the workshop, NYSDEC Region 1 staff will review topics such as PPE, recordkeeping, worker and handler training, respirator requirements and more. Existing rules and updates will be addressed. Attendees will rotate between stations in a 'mock inspection' format.
NYS DEC Pesticide recertification credits will be offered. To obtain credits you must arrive on time and stay for the duration of the meeting. Credits cannot be offered to late arrivals.
There is limited enrollment, so interested participants must pre-register. The registration fee is $10 per person. Contact Melissa Elkins at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 631-727-7850, ext. 341 or me336@cornell.edu.
