Nimble Farms (formerly known as Ellicottville Greens), has unveiled its new brand identity and announced a retail expansion.
Through a chain-wide launch at Tops Friendly Markets, Nimble Farms introduced its new produce brand, reinforcing its mission to make fresh, local food accessible to every region and community, year-round. Nimble Farms' new tagline is "Locally grown, everywhere."
Since 2018, Nimble Farms has operated a network of smart modular farms powered entirely by renewable energy.
“Since our inception, we have been dedicated to providing fresh, local produce to our communities using the most effective indoor growing technologies available,” said Gabe Bialkowsi, CEO of Nimble Farms, in a released statement. “Today, we proudly reintroduce ourselves as Nimble Farms — an inspiring new brand identity that honors our roots while reinforcing our mission to responsibly expand access to truly local food. With demand for healthy, perishable produce higher than ever, and with ongoing challenges facing our fresh food supply, we look forward to scaling our impact both regionally and nationwide in the years to come.”
Nimble Farms’ modular, climate-controlled grow units are housed in converted shipping containers. Designed to maximize productivity per square foot, each unit is equipped with energy-efficient LED lights, recirculating water and nutrient systems, and precise environmental controls.
The company says this setup optimizes inputs such as fertilizer, water and energy, enabling year-round production of a wide variety of crops, including living lettuces, herbs, microgreens and mushrooms. All Nimble Farms sites are powered 100% by renewable energy sourced from local solar, wind and hydroelectric power.
The company collaborates closely with local supermarkets, farmers markets, schools and hospitals across New York and the northeastern U.S. to meet a growing demand for local, perishable produce.
Nimble Farms also announced a partnership with Tops Friendly Markets. Its Butterhead Living Lettuce is now available in all 152 Tops locations across New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont, with plans to expand product offerings in the near future.
“Tops is thrilled to partner with a locally owned and operated vertical farm, bringing our community fresh, locally grown vegetables year-round,” said Jeff Cady, vice president of floral and produce for Northeast Shared Services, in a statement. “This collaboration not only supports sustainable farming but ensures that our customers can enjoy the highest-quality produce every season, regardless of what challenges Mother Nature may present.”
Currently operating three sites in New York, Nimble Farms is planning to double its sites, expanding operations in New York and Pennsylvania at the end of this year, with the ultimate goal of building 100 locations nationwide within the coming decade.
