Peckham — a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization providing paid job training opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment — has acquired Revolution Farms, a 3.5-acre hydroponic indoor lettuce farm in Caledonia, Michigan.

Revolution Farms provides nearly 1.5 million pounds of salad greens each year to grocery chains, restaurants and hospitality groups throughout the Midwest.

The acquisition is a growth opportunity for Peckham and its existing Peckham Farms line of business, a sustainable 2.5-acre produce farm based in Lansing, Michigan. Peckham also operates federal contact centers in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"This is an exciting new chapter for Revolution Farms. Having Peckham on board means continued growth and opportunity — not only for the farm and its customers, but for our dedicated employees who are the heart of what we do," said Revolution Farms CEO John Green. "We’re proud of what we’ve built, and we’re confident Peckham will honor that legacy while taking things to the next level."

"Peckham has a proud decade-long history of growing fresh food locally and sustainably. This opportunity with Revolution Farms is a natural shift toward continued innovation and entrepreneurialism in agriculture and providing more job opportunities in the farming industry to people with disabilities and other barriers," said Jo Sperry, Peckham chief executive & inclusion officer. "Peckham and Revolution Farms share a commitment to people, community and providing high-quality products and services to customers. We are excited to add this reputable and respectable brand to our social enterprises and to continue to innovate in one of Michigan’s leading industries."

For 48 years, Peckham has provided jobs and job skills training to thousands of individuals with barriers through five different business lines throughout Michigan, with additional operations in Phoenix, Arizona, and London, Kentucky.

Peckham Farms grows a diverse range of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers using a variety of modern and accessible farming practices in nearly 98,000 square feet of high tunnels and greenhouse space. It's operated since 2018.
