Based in Kingsville, Ontario, Canada, family-owned and operated DelFrescoPure runs four farms with more than 100 acres of greenhouse production. It grows tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, strawberries and flat beans, and offers an organic line of tomatoes and cucumbers. DelFrescoPure sells its produce within the Canada Ontario-Quebec Corridor, through the Midwestern United States and along the U.S. East Coast to Florida.
The company knows delivering a quality product isn’t all about sustainable growing conditions and wide-reaching transportation routes. By packaging its own product in an innovative and useful way, DelFrescoPure aims to enhance consumer enjoyment. Below, Fiona McLean, DelFrescoPure’s marketing manager, explains the company’s resealable packaging for its Mini Mixers snacking tomatoes.
Produce Grower: What sets the Mini Mixers packaging apart from other produce packaging?
Fiona McLean: We offer dry 1 pint, 1-lb., and 1.5-1b. packaging sizes with DelFrescoPure new resealable Top Seal packaging with enhanced security features.
PG: Why is it important to provide consumers with a resealable package?
FM: Resealable packaging allows the consumer the flexibility to select the amount for their desired usage, no need to transfer the Mini Mixers to another container since the seal is resealable and the tamper-proof dots offer extra sense of security.
PG: Where does the packaging of DelFrescoPure’s produce take place?
FM: We have a packing and distribution centers at our location.
PG: What are some of the different tomato varieties and flavors that consumers can find in Mini Mixers, and how can the variety benefit retailers and end consumers?
FM: Sizes range from grape, cherry to cocktail and everything in between. DelFrescoPure has hand-selected these varieties from their annual variety trials for their exceptional traits like taste, appearance, shelf life and production.
PG: What are some other trends and developments in packaging that DelFrescoPure is leading or joining in on?
FM: With increased grab-n-go and snacking formats entering the marketplace, we are also exploring new innovated snack-size packaging.
